manifesto

in a time where the internet is more polished an sanitized than ever, it is becoming increasingly important to remember our roots. we are constantly being advertised to, tracked, and put in boxes. social media has become so uniform and corporate, and everyone is trying to promote themselves. i reject the notion that everything online has to be pretty, profitable, and professional. i believe that creativity is truly what it means to be human and it is getting easier for us to be lazy and become slaves to corporate ideas of design and expression. it saddens me that people my age did not get to experience the early internet in its creative prime. this is not the say that the early internet was perfect; it truly was the wild west. i simply mean to emphasize the personal initiative of people in years past to learn how to code and share it with others. i also mean to express how there is no "right way" to do these things. broken links? too many flashing gifs? ugly color combos? that's all apart of the game. if neocities websites have nothing else, they have personality. this site, as simple in design and mechanics as it is, is an expression of my passions and interests. this space is for me, you, and anyonen else who believes the internet has become impersonal and boring. there's no algorithm, no ads. you don't need to have a degree in design or experience with coding to do this either.

i value creativity.

i value learning.

i value nonconformity.
